BIG CHEER for Amaze!

Amaze’s comedy fundraiser the Big Cheer is back for 2025! Hosted by Amaze patron Angela Barnes and featuring a host of the brightest names in the world of stand-up.

The event is raising money for Amaze, your local charity who provide vital support and connection for families with disabled children and young people in Sussex. (amazesussex.org.uk).

Our line up* for 2025 is:

Tom Davis is best known for hit shows King Gary, The Curse, Live at the Apollo and Murder in Successville, as well as his hugely popular podcast Wolf and Owl with Romesh Ranganathan, which has received critical acclaim and sold out live shows. Tom is also known for his stand out performance in Wonka and multiple appearances on A League of Their Own, The Ranganation, Judge Romesh, and Action Team.

Rosie Jones has quickly made a household name for herself but is still striving for national treasure status. Having fronted her own hit Comedy Central series Out Of Order, her hard-hitting Channel 4 documentary Am I A R*tard and two travelogue series’, Mission: Accessible and the BAFTA nominated Trip Hazard as well as ground-breaking roles acting in primetime dramas Silent Witness, Casualty and Call The Midwife there is no genre Rosie is afraid to touch.

Mark Simmons is an exceptional one-liner comedian. It won him a place in Dave’s prestigious Best Joke of The Fringe in Edinburgh 2017. His solo show at the festival, One-Linerer was also a huge hit, with sell out shows every day and was nominated Best Show by the Amused Moose Comedy Award Fringe Show 2017. He then continued this success with his follow-up show, One-Linererer, which was also a sell out!

Joe Wilkinson is returning to Big Cheer for another year. He has “been on telly a little bit, not aging well” and is an Amaze Patron.

And Amaze Patron Angela Barnes who swapped a career in health and social care for stand up in 2010 and hasn’t looked back. Within just a couple of years she had won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2011 and has since toured the UK and starred in BBC Two’s iconic 21 series Mock the Week as a regular, as well as Live at the Apollo, and Hypothetical on Dave.

Every pound raised for Amaze by supporting this event helps disabled children and young people and their families to thrive. By attending this event, you’ll be helping friends, neighbours and people you know access expert advice, practical support and a community of other families with similar experiences.

What people are saying...

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and your amazing team for everything you all did to ensure last night’s show was a success!

Excellent venue… have never laughed so much! Nice bar food as well!

Thank you for having us, we had a lovely night!

Came with a couple of friends who don’t generally go to comedy. They loved the evening. Chantal Nash and Gbemi Oladipo were the favourites (Gbemi’s plane section had me crying!). They though the food was great and were impressed with the speed of service. Overall a brilliant night. Thank you for looking after us so well.

Thanks very much to all of you for hosting this – it was a great night!

It’s always entertaining when you sit at the front. The host was great, and the lineup was extremely funny. Well worth a visit great value for money.

Had a great time. Recognisable TV personality hosting. Several hours of comedy. Drink prices reasonable for the area. Lots of laughs.

Fantastic comedy venue, very accommodating to my disability requirements. Never seen a bad comedy show there yet … really good up and coming acts.

Love the Komedia. It has the best comedy shows!

I always spend awesome nights at Komedia and the Komedia staff, at the door or behind the bar are always so friendly and super helpful. I can’t wait to go back already!
