BIG CHEER for Amaze!
Amaze’s comedy fundraiser the Big Cheer is back for 2025! Hosted by Amaze patron Angela Barnes and featuring a host of the brightest names in the world of stand-up.
The event is raising money for Amaze, your local charity who provide vital support and connection for families with disabled children and young people in Sussex. (amazesussex.org.uk).
Our line up* for 2025 is:
Tom Davis is best known for hit shows King Gary, The Curse, Live at the Apollo and Murder in Successville, as well as his hugely popular podcast Wolf and Owl with Romesh Ranganathan, which has received critical acclaim and sold out live shows. Tom is also known for his stand out performance in Wonka and multiple appearances on A League of Their Own, The Ranganation, Judge Romesh, and Action Team.
Rosie Jones has quickly made a household name for herself but is still striving for national treasure status. Having fronted her own hit Comedy Central series Out Of Order, her hard-hitting Channel 4 documentary Am I A R*tard and two travelogue series’, Mission: Accessible and the BAFTA nominated Trip Hazard as well as ground-breaking roles acting in primetime dramas Silent Witness, Casualty and Call The Midwife there is no genre Rosie is afraid to touch.
Mark Simmons is an exceptional one-liner comedian. It won him a place in Dave’s prestigious Best Joke of The Fringe in Edinburgh 2017. His solo show at the festival, One-Linerer was also a huge hit, with sell out shows every day and was nominated Best Show by the Amused Moose Comedy Award Fringe Show 2017. He then continued this success with his follow-up show, One-Linererer, which was also a sell out!
Joe Wilkinson is returning to Big Cheer for another year. He has “been on telly a little bit, not aging well” and is an Amaze Patron.
And Amaze Patron Angela Barnes who swapped a career in health and social care for stand up in 2010 and hasn’t looked back. Within just a couple of years she had won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2011 and has since toured the UK and starred in BBC Two’s iconic 21 series Mock the Week as a regular, as well as Live at the Apollo, and Hypothetical on Dave.
Every pound raised for Amaze by supporting this event helps disabled children and young people and their families to thrive. By attending this event, you’ll be helping friends, neighbours and people you know access expert advice, practical support and a community of other families with similar experiences.
Compass Card/Carers Card holders can purchase a maximum of 2 tickets for a reduced price of £20 each. Compass Card must be presented upon entry.
