Lovers II Friends – 90s/00s Day Party

Daytime is the new nighttime.

Whether it’s the safer and more relaxed atmosphere, the alignment with the rising sober curious movement, or simply the opportunity to get a good night’s rest, there are a lot of benefits to daytime clubbing! Avoid the usual late-night crowds, dodge the effects of staying up too late, and embrace a lifestyle that’s fun, social, and refreshing.

Introducing, Brighton’s new day party for the millennial generation: Lovers II Friends

Playing nothing but iconic pop and R’n’B tracks – from Britney Spears and TLC to Kelis and Steps – Lovers II Friends is the ultimate throwback experience. With the same lively club atmosphere, drinks at the bar, and a selection of low- and no-alcohol options, this daytime party provides the full clubbing experience minus the hangover.

The Rise Of The Day Rave

Daytime raves are certainly not new, but they’re making a strong comeback – especially post-pandemic. Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Kitchen Disco and Gok Wan’s Isolation Nation streamed live during lockdown to foster a whole new appreciation for dancing earlier in the day, and doing so to have some fun quality time with loved ones.

“Throughout 2024 we’ve seen a change in people’s habits for going to shows,” explains Tom Brain, Programme Manager at Komedia Brighton. “It’s clear that for people of a certain age (myself included!) prefer events to start early and finish early, which is why we wanted to have a club that finishes at 8pm. It gives people the chance to have been to the club, had a great time with friends, and be home before 10pm. Perfect.”

The Sober Curious Movement

The popularity of day parties has also grown with the rise of the sober movement. Many young adults are becoming more mindful of their alcohol consumption and choosing experiences that don’t revolve around drinking. Day parties aligns well with this shift, offering an environment where socialising, music, and dancing are front and centre – not just the drinks.

You can even make a day of it: grab lunch or coffee, explore the Laines of Brighton, do some (window) shopping, and then make your way to Komedia for the main event. Lovers II Friends brings together a mix of nostalgic music, socialising, and dancing in a schedule-friendly package that allows you to get the early train home.

So, will we see you on the dancefloor on 7 December? Sing, dance, and enjoy the best hits of your generation – all while embracing the new trend of daytime nightlife.
