Jim Blackmann is a writer and musician. He grew up in Canada, before moving to live in the north of England. After which he began a period of travel and then finally settled in the south, where he found employment as an engineer, a chef, and an artist. He then began to pursue writing seriously, and after a period of writing novels, essays and poetry, he turned to song-writing.

His musical style is an eclectic mix of indie-folk, jazz and blues, and it has been said it evokes a mood described as ‘misty windows; rainbow outside’. His background as a writer is reflected in his lyrical ability, and his varied life is reflected in his realism. He accompanies his original material with guitar, piano and ukulele. His musical influences include the Canadian folk singers Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell.

‘Delicate and subtle. Riven with emotion. Oh, and enigmatic to boot.’ Christopher Donovan, Somewhere Over England
