IndieComedyMag LIVE: The Death Hilarious and Siân Docksey
Your favourite niche comedy magazine presents a night of brilliantly absurd delights. Come one, come all, for a comedy night as lovingly curated as our publication, The Independent Comedy Appreciation Society – we’ll be peddling back issues, badges, and intense comedy chat between acts.
In January we bring you Siân Docksey (“Joy and bewilderment in equal measure” – The Skinny) and The Death Hilarious (“A bold and unique new voice in comedy” – Chortle), all tied together by our sub-editor and broadly capable compere, Pete Jones.
Siân Docksey has been a fervent supporter of our unviable magazine and is the voice of millenials and lobsters everywhere. Prolific sketch performer as half of Siân and Zoë, Sian struck out on her own at Edinburgh this year with an excellent debut show designed to convince her Belgian mother that she was a successful cruise ship comedian. We have managed to lure her back to land for your enjoyment.
“Siân Docksey has got her weird in order!” – Funny Women
“I ain’t ever seen anything quite like that!” – Mumble Comedy
Published in issue three of The Independent Comedy Appreciation Society, and locally feared and adored, The Death Hilarious are Chortle Best Newcomer 2018 nominees and have appeared on BBC Radio 4. We’re assured they’ll be performing “a genre-defying, confusing 45 mins that retells the Old Testament through stolen footage from David Attenborough’s most recent colonoscopy. It might not work. Also featuring David Jason, if he wants to see his boy alive again.” – which is probably exactly as troubling as it sounds. Also, it’ll be an hour, because we’re good kids who source show descriptions well in advance.
“An impressive debut, full of elements dark, rich and deviantly chilling” – The Scotsman
