Komedia New Comedy Award 2025
Komedia is pleased to announce that the Komedia New Comedy Awards, in association with the award-winning Comic Boom comedy club and Arts Journalist Victoria Nangle, return for 2025!
Who’s behind it?
Komedia – repeatedly voted best comedy club in the South – and Comic Boom have been nurturing award winning comedians from their first ever gigs to being on the TV and international tours. Victoria Nangle is an experienced well-established comedy critic working across the media.

You get to be Komedia New Act of the Year! Plus there’s a prize!
What’s the prize?
A framed winners’ certificate and a fab award to put on your mantelpiece, plus a spot at Comic Boom comedy club.

From all over the comedy industry.
The Semi-Finals
On Tuesdays 14th, 21st & 28th January, and 4th February 2025, with the final on Tuesday 11th February 2025.
How to enter –

What you need –
To enter you need (incomplete or illegible applications will automatically be rejected):
- 7 minutes (minimum) of your own original stand-up comedy material.
- To have been doing stand-up for less than 3 years but you must be gigging regularly (open mic is fine).
- Not currently being booked for paid 20 minute spots. No TV or radio contracts in place.
- A video (not audio) clip (youtube links only) of you performing a 7 minute (up to 10 minute max) set of your own material in front of an audience at a comedy night.
- It’s fine if your clip is filmed on a mobile phone, just make sure you’re visible and audible. And that you’ve uploaded clip to YouTube.
- A high-res promo photo that you own.
- You must be over 18 to enter this competition.
Our judges will choose who goes through to a semi-final heat from submitted video clips.
We can only contact you if we can offer you a place in a semi-final heat. This will be by December 16th 2024. The judges’ decisions are final. Komedia may use semi-finalists’ clips, photographs and biogs for promotional purposes. Please don’t enter this competition if you’re not happy with this.
