As the days get colder and the nights grow darker, the Komedia team looks back at their favourite moments of 2024 to warm their hearts – and yours.
Vicki, Finance Manager
Paul Foot‘s show Dissolve was as moving as it was hilarious!
Kelly, Senior Marketing & Press Officer
Seeing Tom Lawrinson‘s solo show Hubba Hubba back in April was an absolute highlight. Genuinely one of the funniest comedians I’ve EVER seen, so weird and wonderful! I can’t wait for him to come back next year.
Tom, Programme Manager
My favourite moment? Programming a special week of Birthday shows to celebrate Komedia turning 30, including performances from The Bug Club, Ditz, The Orielles, and Getdown Services – with a Suspiria-inspired poster to celebrate the occasion. Big Venn diagram of my interests!
Misti, Venues Coordinator & Events Manager
Sundae Club is always a highlight for me. I think it’s great that we offer so many shows for young people to be able to enjoy the arts, and that we’re able to invite families along who may not always have the opportunity to do so.
Another one for me is the Edinburgh Preview season. I always look forward to seeing a show in its earliest form, because anything can happen – whether it’s polished or not. They’re always a lot of fun to work for me! My favourite this year was Joe Kent-Walters as Frankie Monroe (back in March 2025!) and Two Hearts.
Liz, Director of Finance
Seeing Gbemi Oladipo (pictured right) at Komedia Comedy Club alongside my friends who don’t really come to comedy. His plane joke had me crying!
Roxy, Marketing Manager
Attending Down the Hatch for the first time, with some of my personal favourites on the line-up (I’m looking at you Dane Buckley, Daniel Foxx, and Suzi Ruffell!), I truly felt like I belong in Brighton – and at Komedia. I may have even shed some happy tears…
Similarly, going to my first Komedia Comedy Club was electrifying. The energy in the room was even better than I had imagined and I felt that high for days after. Up until that point I had only ever attended tour shows rather than mixed-bill comedy clubs, but I’m loving it now!
Emma, Production Manager
Having The Tiger Lillies rehearse and perform a small set in our Studio space, in preparation for their tour, was brilliant! Like a small, private show for some of the greats in the business. And they had the best-looking accordion.
